Senior Nutrition
Program serving Monroe and
Randolph Counties
¨ Serves
persons over the age of 60 and their spouses, regardless of age.
Income does not matter.
¨ Serves
a hot meal containing one-third of the Recommended Dietary Allowance
(RDA), including diabetic diets, five days a week except holidays.
A donation is suggested to help supplement the budget for each
service year. These donations are placed in an unmarked envelope.
Individuals donate what they feel they can afford, however, no one
will be turned away because of inability to pay. Food stamps may be
used for the donation.
¨ Provides
home delivered meals when necessary, to meet the need of ill and
homebound eligible individuals.
¨ Provides
nutrition education about the kinds and amounts of foods that are
required to meet the daily nutritional need and makes them aware of
the nutritional value of the different food groups.
¨ Provides
outreach service, an activity designed to seek out and identify, on
an on-going basis, the maximum number of hard to reach, isolated and
withdrawn individuals throughout the two county area in the greatest
need of nutrition and supportive services, and to provide them the
opportunity to participate in the program.
For information
about supportive services provided at the
