R.S.V.P. (Retired & Senior Volunteer Program) Serving Monroe, Perry and Randolph Counties

RSVP has a dual purpose of engaging persons 55 and older in volunteer service to meet critical community needs and to provide a high quality experience that will enrich the lives of the volunteers.

RSVP is a part of the Senior Service Corps of the corporation for National and Community Service.

RSVP volunteers serve without compensation, but if requested, may be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses, such as transportation.  All volunteers are covered with accident and liability insurance while on assignment.  Orientation, in service training, individual supervision and support are stressed.  Recognition is given for volunteer service.

RSVP provides volunteers with an opportunity to choose how to use their abilities and experiences to improve the lives of others in their own communities.

RSVP is a service by volunteers to assist their local communities to provide valuable service in hospitals, nursing homes, historical sites, courthouses, health departments, Adult Literacy Program, HOSPICE, nutrition sites and other community service organizations.

RSVP volunteers impact the lives of children by volunteering with the Illinois READS program in the elementary schools, presenting the BABES program (an early prevention program) to elementary students, volunteering in the Speak To Me Program at Head Start, and volunteering with after school programs.

RSVP offers services to other seniors, such as blood pressure testing at nutrition sites and senior citizen club meetings, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) counseling, Rules of the Road Drivers Training Course and telephone reassurance for the homebound elderly.

RSVP is a program whose only requirement is that a person by 55 years of age or older and willing to volunteer in his/her own community.
