Western Egyptian E.O.C. has an outreach office in Monroe, Perry, and Randolph Counties. The Staff members at these offices are trained in basic information, referral and assistance to assist with problems relative to social services.
The local WEEOC Outreach Office personnel are usually the first contact individuals make with the agency when they need help. Some major programs offered directly by the offices are Weatherization, Energy Assistance, Homeless Assistance, Head Start, Tax and Insurance Assistance, Emergency Food and Shelter, Budget Counseling, and Housing Counseling
If the outreach staff cannot assist directly, a referral will be made to other programs and providers. This service is funded in part by the State of Illinois, Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity through a Community Services Block Grant.
Eligibility Requirements: Household must meet 200% of federal poverty income guidelines and demonstrate need.
Loan Fund: Provides low interest loans to businesses for start up or expansion. The business must hire low income people as a condition of this loan.
Scholarships: Provides four competitive scholarships to low income or disadvantaged persons of high academic attainment or potential who are attending an Illinois college.
Emergency Services: Provision of financial assistance to eligible clients to assist them in meeting emergency needs for shelter, food, clothing, pharmaceuticals, fuel, etc.
Information & Referral: Provides information and referrals to link low income people with various resources.
Family & community Development: Provides a program to assess a family’s needs and resources and work with the family to devise a plan which will lead them to self sufficiency.
Additional Services: Food pantries, F.E.M.A. program for emergency food, shelter, rent and utilities; Salvation Army, Dollar More, and Warm Neighbors.
