Western Egyptian EOC Head Start is a comprehensive federally funded child
development program serving three and four year old children from low income families. Head Start actively recruits and enrolls children with disabilities and is committed to the individualization and total inclusion of children with professionally diagnosed disabilities.

Enrollment priority is given to children from families meeting the poverty income guidelines, however, special provisions also allow the participation of children with disabilities from families not eligible on the basis of income.

Children are introduced to the world around them through hands on learning and are encouraged to express their feelings and experiences. In addition, Head Start prepares both parents and children for entering the public school system.

Head Start recognizes the importance of the family in child development Parents are given an opportunity to learn about strengths and needs of their children and to be involved in the program planning and policy making.

Head Start operates under the Federal Performance Standards and is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The Performance Standards are categorized under Early Childhood Development and Health Services, Family and Community Partnerships, and Program Design and Management. Parents, staff, and the community collaborate in providing an array of services in the following areas:
