HOUSING Programs and Services

What is the Housing Program?

Western Egyptian uses Federal and State funding sources such as HUD, Rural Development, and the Illinois Housing Development Authority to achieve the goal of helping moderate low income people in our service area.  The service area is for people living in or in the case of Home Buyer Assistance wanting to live in Jackson, Monroe, Randolph and Perry Counties.

Western Egyptian has been involved with Housing Programs and services since 1974.  Programs include Single-Family Housing Rehabilitation, Homebuyer Assistance, Rental Units (in Sparta only), Homebuyer Education , Housing Counseling, Home Accessibility Modifications and Rental Assistance.

How can we help?

Families and Individuals

Call the local office to discuss your housing problem.  A questionnaire is completed over the phone or in person to help find the areas with which we can assist.  Western Egyptian may be able to help you with one of several agency programs, or we may refer you to other sources of assistance within the agency’s housing network system.

Local Governments and Agencies

Staff can help communities, cities, villages, counties, not-for-profit agencies and others apply for and operate housing programs.  The amount of help may vary from referrals to “turnkey selections”.  This solution could include a complete application packet with submission to a funding agency, post application materials, taking and processing client applications, estimating work needed on a home, developing bid packages and securing bids, inspecting work performed on a home, and program close out documents.
